Plans changed.

JT Carter thought they were headed to their home track in Kansas. Then Uncle Charlie drove right past the exit and kept going south, all the way to Texas and the season opener of the National Youth Motorsports Series.

The pits are full of polished haulers and factory teams. Vector Performance Racing works like a machine, and Cash Walker wins like it’s just another Saturday. The Race Day Brats have a worn-out motorhome named Coach, a folding table, a dog named Winston, and a spot in the gravel marked Independent Entries.

And JT has a problem in Turn Three that he can’t fix alone. He can keep fighting it by himself and hope it’s enough. Or he can make a choice that’s harder than any pass on the track.

The Choice is the first book in the Race Day Brats series: a story about family, grit, and earning your place on the grid.

The next race is harder than the last.

In Florida, the air is thicker, the track is heavier, and the Race Day Brats aren’t the new team nobody notices anymore. Across the lane, VPR works like a machine. Cash Walker sits on pole like he always does. And Beckett Rhodes has figured out how to shut JT down without ever touching him.

JT has the speed. What he doesn’t have yet is patience. Jett has a gift for finding gaps. What she doesn’t have yet is the discipline to know which ones are real.

With a folding table, a frisbee game, and an uncle who says more with one look than most people say all day, JT is about to learn the difference between pushing and forcing, and that the fastest way around a track isn’t always the one you can see.

The Line is the second book in the Race Day Brats series: a story about patience, pressure, and finding your way through the turn.

Everything is going right. That’s the problem.

After a detour to the Gulf of Mexico, the Race Day Brats roll into their next Florida track with momentum. JT is running up front. Jett has found a line through Turn Three that nobody taught her. Even the announcer is telling the crowd to keep an eye on these kids.

But around the campfire, something shifts. Blaine starts measuring the team against VPR’s data system. Chairs at the folding table start sitting empty. A woman in a VPR polo starts asking questions about Jett. And when Cash Walker invites JT inside the VPR hauler, JT gets a close look at everything money can buy.

Nobody fights. Nobody quits. They just drift, a little at a time, in a direction nobody chose.

The Drift is the third book in the Race Day Brats series: a story about success, distraction, and what a team can lose without noticing it’s gone.

The season has become a blur.

The tracks run together. The finishes slip: second, then third, then fourth somewhere that might have been Missouri. The folding table has turned into a place to drop concession wrappers. Blaine lives on his tablet, JT lives on his phone, and nobody can remember the last time they all really sat down together.

So Charlie drives them home.

Back in Kansas, the race cars stay in the trailer and the dirt bikes come out of the shop, including an old Suzuki nobody has ever seen Charlie ride. At IMX, the motocross track where they all learned to ride, JT finds out he’s rusty, that Kate used to race, and that there’s a whole chapter of Charlie’s life nobody ever told him about.

The Rebuild is the fourth book in the Race Day Brats series: a story about burning out, going home, and remembering what you were racing for in the first place.

Twenty-five hours. One motorhome. Six passengers. No nitrous.

After a reset back home in Kansas, the Race Day Brats load up Coach and head east for their next race. The trip is cramped, loud, and long: chip dust on the couch, cabinets that won’t stay shut, bunks nobody can sleep in, and Winston claiming every inch of floor he can find.

Blaine spends the miles hunting for a data logger the team can actually afford. Kate is trying to make a thin budget stretch. Jett votes for nitrous. And somewhere in the middle of the night, with the highway black outside the windshield, Charlie tells JT something about faith he’s never said out loud.

Then they get to the track, and JT is third in points, with Cash Walker and Beckett Rhodes still ahead of him.

The Run is the fifth book in the Race Day Brats series: a story about the long road, the people in the seats beside you, and finding out what’s still running when the miles get hard.

Every race has led here.

Nationals is bigger than anything the Race Day Brats have ever seen. Security checks credentials at the gate. The grandstands rise higher than any track back home. The pits are packed with the best teams in the country, and VPR’s black hauler is parked right in the middle of all of it.

Out on the track, JT has to find speed against the fastest field of the season. Jett has a race of her own to run. And when something goes wrong with the Ten on race morning, Blaine is left racing a clock with a wrench in his hand while the rest of the family does whatever it takes to help.

Through all of it, the things that carried them this far are still there: the folding table, the frisbee, Winston underfoot, and Charlie saying one word before every meal.

The Finish is the sixth and final book in the Race Day Brats series: a story about the biggest race of their lives, and what it really means to finish together.
