More than 30 years working with kids.

Before writing stories for young readers, D.L. Speed spent more than 30 years working with students as a teacher, coach, and school administrator. That experience shaped an understanding of what makes kids laugh, what keeps them reading, and the choices and challenges they face as they grow up.

A lifelong racing enthusiast, D.L. Speed brings a love of motorsports, family, humor, and storytelling to every book. Some stories happen at the track. Some begin in the backyard. All are written to give kids something they want to keep reading — and families something worth sharing together.

D.L. Speed writes under a pen name and prefers to keep the spotlight where it belongs: on the stories and the kids who read them.
